Default Sunroof won't slide back

Hello,
My sunroof tilts up and tilts down and closes, but it wont slide back. Nothing happens when I try pressing the back portion of the button. I have tried doing the reset as described in this tread,
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...solved-185342/
but I have not had any success. Am I doing it wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Chris

I could imagine 2 reasons: 1. faulty mechanics (e.g..some bolts or nuts have fallen off and the mechanic would not work without them - but if you say "nothing" happens, when you press that button, it would be more likely, that 2. the switch itself is buggered (either contact inside damaged or one of the electric wires to that switch has fallen off (or even has a short or (the opposite a kink in the cable...)

Thank you for your feedback. I kept trying to reset the sunroof with no luck until this week, when I accidentally found that it worked while I was driving. I was able to slide it all the way back and forward. However, when I tried again later, it wouldn’t slide.

Yesterday, I noticed that when I pressed the button to tilt, it did tilt, and when I pressed the button to close, it closed—but not completely flush. To help it along, I pressed on the sunroof while holding the button, and it finally closed all the way. Now it slides back and forth like it should.

I suspect the mechanism was sticking, preventing it from closing fully and sliding properly. What’s the best way to lubricate the mechanism to prevent this issue from happening again?

Thanks!
Chris

Any idea what the lubricant is? just Silicone maybe?
For my Renault panoramic sunroof I used lithium white grease spray on the rails to get rid of squeaks and failing to close.

Yes, it seems like the spray shown above would be for the surfaces that mate when it closes and another lubricant should be used for the rails and mechanism. Perhaps white lithium is what I should use.
