Default Swapping to manual trans?

I have a 2004 X Type with an auto trans, I also have a 2002 X Type with a manual trans, has anyone swapped a car from auto to manual?

It certainly could be done - provided you've got a lot of money, time, tools and knowledge. Don't know why you'd want to though. It'd take a month of Sundays just to put together a parts list.

The motor is locked up in the 02, I bought it for a parts car as I needed front end par'ts after hitting a deer with my 04, so Imhave the complete car, not sure what other parts I would need to do the swap? I've always been a fan of a manual trans, and this parts car just happens to have one. I have done several auto to manual swaps in Chevy trucks with no problems, but not that familiar with the jag set up. Maybe computer issues? I had to have the computer flashed in the last truck I did(an 02). Just don't know how involved the electrical is in the jag yet and thought I'd see if anyone else had any insight. Time, tools, skills, location, not a problem, I got that covered. I've been building custom vehicles for years, but first time playing with a jag.
Thank you for your input, maybe someone else will chime in as well.

I have no experience whatsoever for this work. There's a lot of experienced members here on the forum. Maybe some will offer advice. Thought about putting motor from '04 into your '02?

My 04 is newer, has less miles, is in better condition, and black on black. 02 is silver and has some dings and dents on it. Like I said, only bought the 02 as a parts car. So, I'll have some extra parts for sale as well to re-coup what I spent on it. Found it cheaper to buy thus car than to buy the parts I needed. Just found it interesting that this one happens to be manual and thought about maybe swapping mine, but wanted to research and see if anyone else has done it.

You'll need the computers that match the desired goal. With all related computers, sensors, actuators, wiring, relays etc.

Thanks for the input jagv8. Does jag match the computers to the ignition similar to the way GM does? The last truck I did I had to have the computer flashed to match the swap that was done, not sure if anyone flashes jag computers? Tons of people do the gm 5.3 swap into all sorts of vehicles so there are alot of ways to get the computer flashed for that. This jag is a completely different animal tho.

Just take all the modules. I think none are related to GM.

Since you have a parts car I can't imagine if you swap most everything over it wouldn't work. Here is a 9 part video series that is well done on swapping a Mazda 626 from ATX to MTX. Obviously some differences, but they are both Fords and FWD.
