I am considering performing such a swap by picking up a X-type with a blown motor and manual trans. It involves swapping in a Ford Contour 2.5L engine with FWD manual trans into a X-type with a manual trans. As you may know, the engines aren't cheap in the X-types, neither are the transmissions or transfercase. By converting it to FWD, I can eliminate the possibility of several weak points. I personally would not mind converting the car to FWD to have this car as a daily where if any major component does break, it would not cost me an arm and leg.

The engine can be controlled via Megasquirt. The transmission would be manual. The engine mounts, from my understanding, should be the same. What about the transmission mounts?

Why would you go through all the trouble? Just buy a FWD X-Type. And if you're doing an engine swap why wouldn't you get the cheaper Lincoln LS 3L that's been proven to go in and work with no MS required (although I do admit being able to tune the engine a little better via MS would be nice...)

Im the guy that just recently did the engine swap from a Lincoln LS 3.0. It fits and its cheap. Look up my posts about it. Did a lot of research. Any questions....just ask.
It really not hard at all. Just make some swaps.

Dont waste your time on another 2.5 when you can have a 3.0. Unless you just want that.
