Default syn-go vs royal purple

figured i'd post this

originally i flushed my transfer case out with royal purple a couple time, and i was never truelly happy with the outcome.

i bought sta-lube syn-go 75w140 fully synthetic from napa auto for 29.99 and flushed it last night

noises have ceased by 75%. greased the hell out of the center bearing for the prop shaft and it went down another 20%.

figured i'd share.

When I service X-Types, which is less and less now, I use Syn-Go because it calls out the M2C192A spec. I considered both Redline and Royal Purple a few years back. I called them and the sales people all say their product is compatible, but they won't change their spec sheets to say so. In General, I am not that hot on either company as they are more boutique oil suppliers.

I am not a chemist or a petroleum engineer, so I'm not sure it makes that much difference, but I feel better using a product that will put the compatibility spec in writing. If your experiment is legitimate, then my cautions are borne out.

i orginally used royal purple a few times because i couldn't find redline and i didnt want to pay for the syn-go. 60 vs like 24 for what i needed to do.

i cant really explain what i felt. the car just wasn't quiet and didn't feel 'right'.
keep in mind i flushed with royal purple 3 times,

when i drained it sunday night (probably a month since last drain and fill) it was already blacked and had a burnt smell to it. whenever i drained it, i used the extra (over the 600 i was putting back in, 50 ml to account for loss fluid, probably should have kept more but whatever) but i put the extra in, and just let it run back out after a couple minutes. that even appeared off colored when it came back out.

but the car deffinently was noticably better. i'll do the rear after my next paycheck with the syn-go as well.

$60 is really high for syn-go. Not sure where you're purchasing it from, but I pay $38 for a two qt. comtainer ($19/qt) at NAPA Parts.

The 2 qt. size is enough to do the rear diff and the transfer case.
