Default A tale of 2 calipers

I just replaced the brake pads on all 4 wheels on my 2005 X-type and have a leaky caliper on the rear driver's side. Actually, the mechanic who is a friend, said that he thinks he did it when taking it off. Nevertheless, I cannot find another part anywhere in Atlanta. The Jag dealer told me that the caliper and pad design had been changed and I would have to buy 2 new calipers at $450 each and of course new pads (because my brand new ones won't fit the new calipers). I've tried every salvage yard around Atlanta and no one has one. Is the dealer yanking my chain? Does anyone know where I can get one that will fit without re-fitting everything?

Thanks
Bobbi

I had a frozen caliper and bought one for $30 shipped to my doorstep. Of course, mine was super cheap because the guy was short on cash and was parting his car to make the most money he could. I have never heard of the calipers being changed and I'm pretty sure the calipers are the same throughout the years. This is what I found: Left Rear Driver Side Brake Caliper 02 05 Jaguar x Type | eBay

also, check car-part.com for used parts.

Ok, something may have changed in the calipers because this one which is for 05-08 looks much different than the ones on my 02. Here's the link to the rebuilt one: Autocom PSC Rebuilt Unloaded Brake Caliper Rear Left 22 04824L Jaguar x Type | eBay

bobbimack, check out: Jaguar X Type Brake Caliper Repair Kit - 2002 - 2005 2004 2003 - TheAutoPartsShop

They have rebuild kits for your calipers. Super cheap and all you really need to do is replace the outer seal that goes between the piston and the caliper body. They have the kits for like $4 plus S&H. The seal is pressed in at the body of the caliper and the seal stretches over the piston. If you need more info, let me know. I have rebuilt one of my calipers and I tore it all the way down. You won't have to do that based on what you have said.
