Think what you like Bo....personally I could care less.

2.

While debating and discussion is fine, respect your fellow enthusiasts. Being of a diverse background, members are likely to express different opinions, and while opinions may differ from yours, they are just that, opinions; and everyone is entitled to express theirs freely. We will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, or personal attacks. Do not flame, bother, bug, disrespect, hound or taunt ANYONE on the forums or through private messaging or chat room. If we feel a thread is getting out of hand we will close or delete it. You can/will lose your posting privileges if you continue this type of behavior.

As stated your overbearing attitude, slating others for their opinions, the way you freely disrespect others, insults, and personal attacks are a matter of record. You have been given many chances by many members over a long period of time, and yet your attitude still persists.
Please feel free as you should to express your opinion as is your right, however, change the way you interact with others and stop the name calling, insults, disrespect and rudeness.
I have brought the rules to your attention at least twice in the past and made allowances as you have been a long standing and knowledgable member.
If you persist in your manner you will be banned, not what I want, however, I feel you will force the issue.

Jim

how cowardly to close a topic after insulting me... is that in the moderator's handbook?

as far as I can see.. you are either part of the problem.. or part of the solution, your middle ground -group hug to solve issues is crap.... not part of the solution to get the members better educated and informed about basic things like tires. If you cant allow me pass on an opinion, backed up with logic and technical things.. then you should not be moderating.

Try me in person before you challenge me personally. And dont block me because I am giving sound advice.

If genuinely tryingconvey information or opinion to educate and benefit others it helps if the intended audience isn't put off by a lecturing, superior tone. When the intended recipient is insulted, or put on the defensive, or made to feel inferior, the effective sharing of ideas and information usually comes to a grinding halt. The speaker becomes merely a ballyhooer and the audience stops listening and starts reacting.

I'm new here and have read only a few dozen of your postings. I can see, though, that you favor candor so, yes, it seems to me that are overbearing. It also seems that you are well informed, educated, intelligent, and articulate. So intelligent and articulate, in fact, that you could very easily change the tone of your postingsso as to avoid all this ill will, and, at the same time, educate more people, eradicate more myths, inform the misinformed, share more ideas, and generally increase the area that your writ will run.

Whether or not you want to change the tone of your postings, and reap the benefits of doing so, is not for me to say.

Hope you don't mind my unsolicited input, all of which is given in good spirit.

Cheers
DD

Thank you Doug for putting it so very well. This is what a lot of us have been trying to convey to Bo for a long time, without success. Not, I feel because the message was not clear, just that, thats the way Bo is I guess.

I for one as Admin am extremely annoyed at getting drawn into this scenario, and would be appalled if it even remotely looked personal.

Bo has been warned of the rules twice. One member left the forum some time ago citing him as one of the reasons he left. His attitude has meant run ins with at least 7 or 8 people in the past that I can recollect, with only one common denominator,Bo.
I have also had at least 3 pm's regarding this in the past that I can remember.

Essentially, we are at the end of a very long road. The message quite simply put is - stay but a change of attitude is needed or leave / continue and be banned from the site.

This forum is here for the benefit of ALL Jaguar enthusiasts to enjoy for debate / discussion, but always with respect.

WOW!!!!
I'M GONE FOR 5 HOURS AND THIS IS HOW YOU BEHAVE?!?!?!
The good news is that I missed being involved in this one, so it can't be dismissed as yet one more instance of McJaguar and Bo wanting to go at it... [&:]

BUT.....
being the rubber-necker that I am.... NATURALLY I had to go see what had caused such a hullabaloo[:-]

So here's what I found:

ORIGINAL: bojangles
I wont stop especially since you still dont get the point. I am probably someone who COULD drive with low traction tires.. I have a whole lot of experience with low traction driving.
What drives me crazy is that there are peopleout there that dont have any common sense about this. your car is only connected to the road by the tires. The drivetrain only connects the power of the engine to the tires.

Just because there are plenty of people out there that are brainwashed by the automotive service industry about tires, is no excuse to forgetting the most basic of highschool physics.

I only say that you should have snow tires for snow.... and summer tires for summer. I say you MUST in the sense that it is a total pain that the entire coutryside is held up on snowy days by those who venture out without proper equipment. It is just selfish and mean to go out there without reasonabletraction.

I am not a sheep, clearly, I try to lead with technical force.. not with a wishy washy salesperson attitude that prevails. That to me is sheepish.
double-WOW.
That post really makes my head hurt.
Bo: since you started this thread, please allow me to go ahead and tell you how 'I' feel about it.
y'all remember that thread awhile back about posts vs hit ratios? I think it's quite clear, (as it was made quite clear to me by some of the PM's and e-mails I've received) that we have a reasonable amount of people who do NOT post, and who knows how many who have quit visiting as well, because they do not like the way Bo has treated them in the forum. That is the entire reason why I began half-assedly compiling a list of all the berating, insulting, demeaning and mean things you said to or about people who post in this forum. I'm a newer member, but it is not an insubstantial list.

So I decided to call you on it. several times. And each time I have, you have resorted to personal attacks, more rude insults, and in at least one instance, language that included the 'F-bomb'.

So I disagree with those who may still think you are as smart as you keep telling us you are.

Sometimes I try to point out to my clients that when enough people challenge the way you are thinking or behaving, eventually you need to take personal stock, and see if there's something to it. I would try that with you... but you have proven repeatedly that in spite of overwhelming evidence to contradict you, you will hang-on to an incorrect assertion or theory... just because you want to...
So why should a different set of rules apply to your behavior on the forums?

Frankly, Bo; I fail to see the value that you keep telling me you bring to this forum. That value which makes you think you can treat others so poorly, because we "can't do without you".... I am unconvinced.
Personally? I can ABSOLUTELY do without you. AND I am reasonably confident that between the rest of us, we'll manage to continue to help others on this forum solve their problems, without the incongruous rants, the rude and dismissive behavior, and the chest-beating that we get from you in nearly every thread I've seen you participate in. You can keep talking about how much you know, but leave the 'helping-out' to the rest of us. (That way we can also steer people from away from the wrong information you keep spewing as 'fact')

Bo, for what it's worth, I would hate to see you go.I've learned a lot from your posts and it's clear you have real value to add to this community.

Having said that, I don't think you're always right, and in the short time I've been here, Ican see why people are frustrated. The sad part is that many of us on the sidelines would probably agree that a small conscious adjustment intone and style would make all of this a non-issue. Sharing some similar traits, I realize it's a very hard thing to do, especially when you feel passionate about something and genuinely want people to benefit from your knowledge and experience. It's doubly hard whenyourintention is good and candor is a core part of who you are (as it is for me).

In the interest of trying to help, I'd encourage you to respectfully share your knowledge and insight, but thenjust let itgo and allow people to do what they want with it. I get the sense you want to be viewed as a credible source ofinsight here. Credibility doesn't come simply from "being right". It comes from people respecting you enough to be willing toentertain your position. Beating a point to death, berating people incessantly, insulting them for not blindly agreeing with you, etc.destroys whateverrespectpeople have gained for you, underminesyour credibility, and diminishes people's willingness to listen to what you have to say. What's worse is thatwhen you insist on beating a point that everyone else in the world knows is wrong, your credibilitydeteriorates very quickly.

Once you've lost credibilitywith your target audience, trying to win any argument becomes an exercise in futility.

well said Matt.

Bo: in describing your behavior just now, my wife suggested that you sound just like me...... []... which just pisses me off... dangit. [:@]

But because she knows ME so well... she suggested I ask you if you're familiar with who Narcissus was? (That one always shuts ME up...)[&:]

Matt - extremely well put. Trying hard not to sound condescending, I honestly believe that if Bo could adopt these slight changes it would serve him well in all walks of life.

McJaguar - the funny part is as you and Matt have both said, I, myself am very similar but try hard to tone it down / be more easy going, especially on this forum as its way too easy for things to get misinterpretated as it is. If I had a £ or ££ for every post I've written and then ammended before posting ot editing later, I'd have a lot of £££

I feel compelled to provide some input here. I have interacted with Bo on this board, and others for the better part of the last 3 years. Most often, he says things that others are thinking but won't say. Occasionally he torpedos his own credibility with juvenile behavior, only to slowly rebuild it with exceptionally helpful and technical posts (transfer case being an example).

Quite often I look forward to his input. While I agree that he doesn't always know when to let things be, let's not forget that we are all using the written word to communicate and that lends to taking things out of context or missing the spirit of the indended post, since we are devoid of things like body language and voice inflection. Bo does have a sense of humor.

I will end by saying this: Bo, stop calling people names, but continue to post and stick up for your arguements. We drive Jaguars, and we should all act like we have some class.

Hey rosemont - Its not about argueing. Debate and discussion is fine and essentially what the forum is all about, that and the sharing of useful info and a sense of camradderrie I guess.

Having looked at Bo's last 100 posts he has had run ins with at least 4 members that I can see, as well as having been warned twice in the past re language by me. His constant lecturing towards members about spelling and grammar have annoyed countless other members over such a long period. Name calling and insults will not be tolerated by anyone and Bo has had his fair share of chances.
I know of at least one member who has left the forum and cited Bo's attitude and general demeanor as one of the causes. I have had several pm's regarding this as well as a mail from a Jag tech unrelated to this site, but who lurks, and has said he will not join as long as Bo is a member.
Unfortunately this chain of events I think, is the straw that has broke the camels back and therefore I have had no choice but to ban Bo from the site.
