Default Theft of the leaper

Today at a local mall some punk stole the leaper off the hood damaging the mount and hood itself.

I'm usually pretty tolerant of most things in life.... hell I've let some major stuff slide right off my back before, but theft of my property and damage is not one of them. I don't think some little ***** running around out there with a leaper in his pocket all proud of himself knows what I am capable of doing if someone simply provides me one single lead to who he is..........

Anybody got a leaper laying around?

****, sorry to hear that one.
Its a real bummer when someone sees sumthin nice ( ie - your property ) and decides they want it or they're just gonna mess it up for you because they can't have it.
Either way in this instance I reckon the muslims have the right idea......catch em and chop their bloody hands off[:@]
They wouldn't be doin that again in a hurry!!

Re the replacement mate.....try asking Ken@britishparts or Jaggenius.......failing that have a root around Ebay.

Good luck

Jim

Is there a laydown solution rather than stick another one up there to be grabbed off?

Damn dude, that sucks. Keep an eye out on Ebay.

Ehhh come to think of it, I just came to learn that the UK doesn't have the leaping emblem, but rather a flat emblem. May want to look into that as an option.

Thats right ancient, the X's over here have a flat Jag emblem on the bonnet ( hood ) just behind the growler on the mesh grille surround. My 02 doesn't have that either.
I saw a black X tonight outside the snooker hall with it though and it looks great, but, I know how much the leaper means to you guys.
Doesn't really have the same effect over here though!

I second that Jim. I've only owned cars that said Ford on flat emblems. If anything, I wanted to take the emblem off, myself!!

Some Guy: Dude, what car is that?
Me: Yeah man, it's that 2009 Acura...pause...ISX. Can't even buy it yet.[8D][8D]

Over here the leaper is a sign of an age gone by, older cars driven by older men and brings to mind the films showing the S types of the 60's and 70's
Maybe its cos the cars are built here or sumthin, but as I say, to us its old n outdated and essentially ages the car. Bear in mind that when Jag built the X is was desinged to attract a younger driver and get away from the " old mans car" image

I can only imagine that its liked so well over in the US is cos you dont have that history and its " special " to you cos it stands out?

I once heard the reason the Euro Jags didn't have the Leaper on the bonnet, was because of some pedestrian impalement law..

Thats exactly right Dennis mate...........pedestrian safety n all that.
To be honest I wouldn't have it on my X anyway.

Like everything else though.....Its all a matter of personal taste

First off, leaper theft sucks, i'd get the hood scanned for prints. second, I wouldn't buy a leaper off ebay, your more likely to be buying some one else's stolen leaper, (or maybe even Your old leaper) and just helping to escalate leaper theft. Third, I swear the first thing I ever look at when getting in my car is my hood, to make sure the leaper is still there ...

You guys with Leapers on your bonnest ( hoods ) ever thought of designing sumthin, say, connected to the battery but only charged so to speak when the ignition is off?
Runs like a low level current to the leaper so that when anyone touches it they get an electric shock.......maybe Tazer like 50,000 bloody volts
That'd be a nice surprise wouldn't it?

I got some leapers off ebay as new .If you buy it from the power sellers or Jag accessories stores on ebay I don't think you will get someone's item that you don't want
