Default Time for Front Brakes - Any advice on which ?

I recently had my rear brakes done while the car was in for a new water pump , tires and lower control arm. They quoted me really good price on the rear brakes since I was already doing some other work and the car was still on the lift, so I figured I knew I needed them and it saves me some time.

I was also hoping that the sporadic steering wheel shake/vibration at 65+ would be resolved - but nope. I also had the 2 front rims fixed since they were bent , and it helped a little, but the vibration still comes and goes at 65mph. Since I will need Front brakes at some point in the winter , I figure I might as well do them sooner than later and maybe that can resolve the sporadic shaking.

SO -- What front Rotor / Pad combo should I get ? I don't want drilled/slotted , especially since the rears are blanks. Anyone have good recommendation on Ceramic Pads and quality ( non warping crappy ) Rotors ?

If you're not particular about the brand, FastSource_Autoparts on eBay sells rotors and ceramic pads at great prices and fast delivery. The brand isn't specified on eBay or the packaging, but the rotors and pads are working and wearing as well as the factory originals.

Front rotors & ceramic pads are $65 including S&H:
2 Front Premium 300 mm OE Replacement Brake Rotors and 4 Ceramic Pads | eBay

Rear rotors & ceramic pads are $55 including S&H:
2 Rear Premium 280 mm Replacement Brake Rotors and 4 Ceramic Pads | eBay

Front & Rear rotors with ceramic pads are $110 including S&H:
Front 300 mm and Rear 280 mm OE Replacement Brake Rotors Ceramic Pads F140101 | eBay

Looks interesting , but am I a little concerned at how good the price is vs. the quality. Not much of any info on these rotors ( veins, run out specs etc.. ) and wondering if they tend to warp sooner. But the price is enticing

Yes, my concerns were "you get what you pay for". But the price was tempting, and a year and ~20Kmiles later, the rotors and pads still perform and wear as well as the factory originals.

Also of the bay of E, I got a set of Callahan rotors and Fast Stop ceramic pads; the quality was excellent!

That's funny , those were my other choice too. Happy to hear you like them and had no issues either.. They seem to be pretty good quality rotor and pads as well. Price is not bad too.

So far I'm tending to lean towards the POWER STOP Part # K1373 and Evolution Z16 Ceramic Pads kit from Rockauto or the Callahan Kit CFP40103B with Ceramic Pads from Amazon. Both come out to exactly $103 delivered ..

Both sets of Pads seem to be the same ( rubber shims etc... ) . The Rotors are what concerns me more and hope they will not warp or are not Balance and true, or just crappy.

Anyone who can give some more details on either ones or have experience with either please let me know. ( I am not looking for drilled/slotted .. just regular blanks for up front ).

Why not stick with what was on the vehicle, EBC? It looks like they actually make pad/rotor packages now, which the didn't when I purchased.

You can get rotors and pads for $183 @ AutoPartsWarehouse.

EBC S1KF1466 Premium Street Kit - Stage 1 Brake Disc and Pad Kit | Auto Parts Warehouse

There are many more vendors, but I just picked a couple to look at their pricing for you. EBCBrakes.com lists all the vendors for you.

I upgraded to BlackDash slotted rotors and RedStuff ceramic pads for mine a few years ago and never had problems. I purchased from AutoPartsWarehouse and they arrived quickly.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Jer

IIRC, I went with the Akebono pads and Centric rotors from TireRack. Price was good, performance was excellent and the dust was low.
