Default Tire Pressure

Okay...since I got the car back from the service dept after the tire blowout, the front tires looked a bit low (much like the rears did when I had the blowout). I did a COLD tire pressure check this morning and noticed that the fronts are at 32 psi and the rears are at 34 psi.

I called the service advisor and asked if that is correct and was told that they set all tires in this region at 32 psi in the front. Huh? I thought the manual said something higher for 18" tires. Granted the tires are Bridgestone Potenzas and not the PZeros that the car would have come with originally.

Any advice?

Thanks!

exrub, proably should be the other way around. I think I'm running 38 front and 35 rear on my 18's in the cold and could go as low as 35/32. Don't forget you will have a harsher ride with that pressure and the sidewall on the 18" will already be a bit stiffer than 16 or 17.

Hey, mohrd!

I thought that was a bit odd, too, but this is a Jaguar dealership's service advisor telling me this. I know the manual stated something like 40 in front and 35 in rear. But I noticed that the tire states not to exceed 40. Even in that case, I would think the fronts should be at least 35. Hmmm!

Generally you can run a few pounds less in Winter and it seems to help traction a little. 35PSI is always a decent rule of thumb, but I would stay within 2- pounds of what the owner's manual states for your car/tire size.
