Anyone have any knowledge or expertise on tire pressure. My 2005 X-Type carries 205/55R16 tires, which the sticker on the inside of the door recommends be set at 38 psi in the front and 38 psi in the rear. This seems too soft to my liking. The tires have a maximum rating of 51 psi. So my question are these recommendations merely set to provide the most comfortable ride? I would prefer a higher pressure, which handles better and simply feels better to me, and which I suspect gets me better gas mileage. Any insights?
