Top Gear returns, with a " race "....an economy race from Basel in Switzerland to Blackpool in UK, a disctance of 750 miles........first to get there, if they get there, turns on the illuminations for the festive season.
Jeremy Clarkson - Jaguar XJ 2.7TDVI
Hammond - VolkswagenGolf bluemotion
Captian Slow - Subaru

The XJ with twin turbochargers does 0-60 in 7.8 secs and tops out at 141mph and with a range of 660 miles approx should never get there. He made it there on one tank of fuel doing 70 - 80 mph most of the way with radio, air con , heated seats etc ALL on....lol
Seemingly they drained the system afterwards and found enough fuel for a possible further 170 miles or so
What a machine......and it looked good all the way too

Clarkson tried to flog the Jag so he would run out of diesel near his home as he didnt think it would reach Blackpool.
He had all the heated seats on,air con and the rest of the electrics to waste fuel.
When he passed his house by some way then he started to drive economically to try to reach Blackpool.
He could easily have won the race.
Amazing fuel economy for a big car

I'm being swayed towards that car as my next Jag instead of the 2.2d X Type Soverign Estate.......
