Default Trans fluid change on self sealed trans?

How many people change there trans fluid? Even though we have the self sealed trans on the x-type? Just wondering since I am getting close to 50k when trans fluid should be changed.
Thanks,
Mike

Im a mechanic and there is that factor: Im trying to sell something. But i say yes change it. My car also has a Lifetime fluid and I dont five a f... I change it every 30 because Im "crazy" like that. BUT no tranny ever went out on me

So this mechanic says yes change it, and put some amsoil in it, or red line, or motul, or some expensive tranny fluid, I give u ca couple so as not to start a which oil is best thread.

How many people are changing it? Maybe not that many, but maybe that's why the aproximated lifespan of these transmissions is 100'000 miles.

Change it, and get the level right on it. If you don't fill it just right, it'll get angry at you and let you know with a bunch of problems.

Thanks for the advise. What about transfer case oil?

Good question. That one I don't try to sell because it sounds like over reaching. I mean I can tell a customer hey u need to change the tranny fluid to prevent problems and he might believe me, but hey u should change ur differential fluid... they look at me like Im trying to sell them a whole new car.

That being said I can tell u how I take care of MY CAR, yes i change everything every thirty, including the brake fluid, tranny, diff, spark pllugs, fuel filter... but I can do it my self at my job at the cost of the wholesale of the parts. Still, that's what I do. I rarely see a diff go out, never on a jag, only on some land rovers which have a computer and all kinds of electronics in a differential.

In conclusion, I WOULD see if some motul, or red line synthetic diff fluid meets the spec, and change it because it doesn't really take much 1 to 2 liters if I recall. Best of luck!

good video, but you do have to make sure the trans is the right temp to get an accurate refill.

Very true. You need to have the oil at the right temp.
