Transmission fluid Liquid Moly 1200 & Red Line D4 ATF
Has anyone tried Liquid Moly ATF 1200 in X type automatic transmission? Their specifications states that it meets IDEMITSU K17 Jatco 3100 PL085. Also, Red Line D4 ATF.
I received an email from Idemitsu. They no longer make K17 and advised to use Idemitsu ATF Type J or Type S. Ravenol recommends Ravenol J1D2109-12 ATF - JF506E fluid. The transmission in the X type was manufactured by Nissan subsidiary Jatco (Japan Automatic Transmission Company). The transmission is a Jatco JF506E. The transmission was also used by 200-2006 Ford Mondeo Mk III, 199-2006 Maxda MPV, 1996-2003 Audi A3 Mk I, Land Rover Freelander Mk I and several others.
@dennis black How's your car holding up now that you've reached 210K miles? And have you had to do any major repairs, yet?
Just curious about how many miles I should expect to get out of this car.
Nice car and stereo system, by the way!
Thank you.

I have only 55,000 miles on my 2005. 15 years old and have never had one problem. Just regular maintenance. Best Jag that I have owned. (87 XJ6 VPD, 95 XJ6 VDP, 96 XK8, 2005 X type).
my car is driving me to work every day 74 miles round trip ,my ac just needs to get recharged but cold enough to keep me cool, i now have a 2015 xf portfolio ,i will never get rid of my x-type

Did you not say you are running a tune? A tune adds more power correct? More power is going to do what to the clutch packs? Add heat. The energy does not all just go to the rear tires! And as far as Maserati, if the reliability of this Jag is half as good as the Maserati I will be more than happy. So far it doesn't look like it.
For performance- Blow V6 in impressive but it is not going to run with the 4.3L Ferrari engine. The V8 Jag will beat it on drag strip but hard pressed to do so the track. Once your over 500HP a street car is actually slower on track as hook up becomes a problem. I did some head to head runs just yesterday on the Jag vs Maserati Coupe GT. Several runs switched drivers etc. Jag is easy to launch with the launch control and more consistent. I was much better at launching the Maserati(My car) and could equal the Jag on a good launch. No matter what the Jag jumped a car length ahead on the 1-2 Maserati Shift (Cable operated box and I-2 under power can be tricky to get right-Cant do a full power shift you have to back off a tad. Jag is in third gear and the Maserati is gaining now before the 2-3 shift. Fast power shift but still loose the 1/2 car length I had just got back. Jag is in 4th and Maserati is now reving out in third and coming by the Jag. Mostly dead even at this point unless the Maserati went up in smoke at the light or didn't get enough wheel spin off the line. Once the Maserati catches 4th gear at 5000 RPM's the party is over. 4th gear is one to one. Maserati starts walking away at this point and has a car length lead at the 1/4 mile but is pulling away fast at this point as she is on the pipe. I can run to 150 in 4th gear and the Jag just does not have the top end ponies to keep up. I have driven that Maserati over 60,000 hard miles between Seattle and PHX over the years. 24 hour trip and Maser breaks 18 hours. Never had a hick up and has been cheap to own. My wrench retired. He and his brother wrenched for the Ferrari race team in the 60's. I was in for my 50K service which includes plugs. Nino motions me to come back into the shop where is brother has 2 of my spark plugs in his hand. "You see ah dis boy! In ah 20 years I ah never seen a Maserati plug lookaa so gooood! You ah drive this car!"
He had a big smile. Yes I do. I am not saving it for the next guy. Young guys have all the answers. I have built and modified a lot different engines and motors in my day. I have raced cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles as a semi-pro and a pro. I was at one time oldest guy to qualify for winter X games at 42 for Mountain Cross. Its a simple formula that has been consistent since I was 8. The more power you add the more stuff you break. Maybe not right away but you will in time. Eventually after breaking enough stuff you end up with pretty well sorted out race vehicle.
