Exclamation Transmission light came on, '03 Jag

I was driving earlier today on the highway (about 50mph with cruise control on) and I was about to come off the highway, so I hit the "cancel" button on my steering wheel to turn off the cruse control and all of sudden the transmission light came on. It's a red circular saw-like image with an exclamation point (!) inside came on. The car jerked a two or three times and remained at 1500 RPM even when my foot was off the throttle, when I pulled off the road and had my foot on the break I believe ,I'm not 100% positive, the car was still acting as if my foot was on the throttle cause it would jerk forward.

Turned the car off, and read the manual to find out it was the transmission light and turned the car to the "on" position and the light was off.

Brought it to the mechanic and he said there were no codes in the memory. Not sure what to do.

Please help, thank you.

There's a chance your ECU is getting some water damage due to improper drainage around the cabin filter. Some similar things have happened to other owners. Not sure what else it could be other than ECU. Maybe some other owners have had similar issues and will chime in.

Boss Fury, it is possible that your throttlebody stuck and that is what was causing you issues. I would first try cleaning out the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner). Especially make sure you get the edges of the butterfly valve (the big metal disk that blocks the air flow). May need to get a rag and wet it down with some of the cleaner to get that. Hold the valve open with your finger. Please note that after using the throttle body cleaner, the car may be hard to start (you have essentially flooded the car) and you may get a check engine light since the ECU will see the car running rich . Since you are in the area, I would also do a once over of the wiring going to the throttle body. A few members have experienced wiring issues leading to a similar situation.

From there, a little bit of di-electric grease in the plug for the TCM would be called for. You can get water in there and cause the tranny to do funny things.
