Transmission will not go into gear.

 

Carl, the first thing I would check is to see what the fluid level is in the tranny. If the level is too low, the tranny pump can't build up sufficient pressure to move the gears. If that doesn't fix it, then your best bet will be to go to a shop to have them do a quick diagnosis on the car. I really doubt that the cable going to your tranny failed as you would be the first to have that happen.
