Default Trip odometer missing

Hello.

I have a petrol 2009 X-Type which is missing its trip odometer after battery disconnection.

Background / Fault:
The car was running rough, and was throwing all sorts of error codes (as read by the mechanic). This has happened two years in a row during rainy season, and since the car is left outdoors, I suspected water ingress into the engine computer firewall connector.
I disconnected the battery (both terminals), and disconnected and inspected the engine computer main connector on the firewall and found no moisture. When I reconnected it, and then reconnected the battery some 30 mins later, the trip odometer is missing.

The main odometer is still visible, and messages also appear on the screen (e.g. door open).

I've tried changing language settings, but that made no difference. The trip odometer buttons have no effect.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone might have.

Thanks in advance!

Does the dash LED message center cycle through, mileage, dist to empty (range), etc. when the stalk button is pressed?

Hello Dell.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't think of trying this. Anyway, your suggestion solved the problem. After pressing the trip button on the stalk, I could then cycle through the trip distances, mileage, etc.

Many thanks!
Peter
