Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong area...I used the search function but I cant seem to find this particular code. Shortly after I bought this 2003 X Type I mistakenly put in regular gas. Since then my check engine light is on. Code reader shows code P1646.
Has anyone ever had any experience with this code? All the code lists I see go from 1645 to 1650 and no where have I been able to find any information on code P1646.
Any help would be appreciated...tired of seeing the check engine light on!! Thanks...

 

NYC, code P1646 is ECM HO2 Sensor control malfunction – bank 1 upstream (1/1). What this is saying is that your O2 sensor near the firewall (located on the large tube just off of the head closest to the firewall) is going out and more than likely needs to be replaced. if it isn't that, then you are looking at a wiring issue with either a problem with the heater circuit inside the O2 sensor or a bad ECM. Since you can relate it to a tank of bad gas, I am betting that it simply is an O2 sensor that got stressed and failed.

 

Thank you for your response...I guess I will just replace the O2 sensor. I'm hoping its not a wiring or ecm type of issue!
