Default Turn Signal Fuse Keeps Blowing

I have a 2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 and for almost as long as I have had the car I've had an issue with the turn signal fuse sporadically blowing. I'm curious if anyone has had a similar issue with this or by the grace of god hopefully a fix for this issue.

Well you can start by looking at all the signal light wiring. Making sure one is not cracked or rubbing. The Other thing is the wiring in the steering column. Check and make sure wires were not rubbing. Only other thing is the turn signal stalk. There could be a short in it. Let us know if you find anything. And if you need parts pm me and I will help you out.

Thanks and good Luck,
The Dr!

Thanks for the info Dr Dome. I figured the only way to solve this would be tracking wires but I was secretly hoping there would be the 1 in a million chance it was something simple but that's life lol

lol Your funny... Well swap out the stalk. If it don't pop any fuses you have solved your issue. That takes about 20 min.

Stalks are cheap. 25 bucks. And at your house in a few days.

Let me know,
The Dr!

lyalllycan, well, lets first start with making sure that you have some basics covered. Fuse F35 in the passenger compartment fuse box is the fuse for your turn signals. This should be a 15 amp fuse. If you are running a 10 amp fuse there, then that can explain what is going on.

Next, I would say to try doing an inspection of all the side marker lights to make sure that you don't have a wiring issue there. Next I would pull all the light bulbs out that you can (side marker lights and the rear turn signals, do not worry about the front turn signals as these are more difficult to remove than what you will probably find wrong) and then turn on the turn signal to see if you can make the fuse blow. You can then start putting the bulbs in 1 at a time to see if one happens to blow the fuse. If the fuse blows, then odds are that is your bad bulb base.

If the fuse blows without the bulbs in, then you are looking at either a bad turn signal stalk or a problem with your GEM module.

Unfortuantely, in this situation, this isn't a straight forward "this is your problem" type of situation.
