Richard, I would first look at the positioning of your temp gauge sensor. It is located behind the grille. It is very possible that it has gotten banged and what is happening is that part of the bracket is in touch with the radiator, which is causing it to absorb some of the heat that the radiator is trying to remove, leading to the artificially high temp. If it is reading low, then you probably have a wiring issue and you need to do an inspection of the wiring to see if you have any cuts in the insulation.
As for your DSC fault, a lot of times it is a rear wheel speed sensor issue. TO isolate it to a specific wheel, you will need to take it to a shop or find an auto parts store that has a fancier code reader that will also read the ABS faults (these are the C---- faults where ---- is 4 numbers). Odds are, you are looking at a failed ring to the speed sensor which will require a new CV axle for your car.
