Tyres
Hi all, was just wondering what make of tyres you were all running? Only asking as mine seem to have a lot of road noise. Currently i have 'maxxis' all round, (fitted when purchased) due for changing don't know what to buy. The dealers say pirelli, I have 18" alloys if that makes a difference. Thanks for your input in advance

I put the Hankook Ventus V12 on the '03 and have no complaints so far (less than 5K miles on them).
I do not recall what is mounted on the '04.5 but they are generics with about half-tread remaining an so I cannot justify replacing them just yet. I don't drive the '04.5 enough to offer a good comparison between basic and the Hankook (partner drives this one and I have less than 100 miles of seat time in it over the few weeks we have had it).
I went with a Nitto offering on the XK8 and have been happy with them, but it isn't an apples to apples comparison.
Some tires do get noisier as they wear...I remember the original Falken Azenis (before they redesigned the tread pattern) that I ran on the Miata were fine at first but got noisy half-way through their life. Other considerations are how you actually drive the car...if it is a grocery getter and sees little in the way of conditions where performance is more of a factor then it changes how you should look at the options.

Try to Stay away from cheap tires, or perhaps Chinese tires. I have BCT S800 and they are sooo loud. Doesn't feel well planted in wet conditions either. They are so loud it sounds like a very worn bearing. The tread design is aggressive and I like that but the performance leave me wanting.

General G/Max in 225/40/18 with an XL rating. Great tires in both wet and dry conditions but they seem to be really at home in the wet weather. Somewhat noisy but nothing major... I drive rather spiritrd and there is very minimal tire wear with about 10k on them.
For the price, I would definitely recommend them!
