Unknown Vacuum Hose
#2
I will be the first to admit I love a good mystery. I went though the shop manual and can say for sure that is not a vacuum hose. With all of the vacuum leak problems that occur with the X-type they fortunately used very few hoses so troubleshooting is simpler.
If in fact the hose belongs to the vehicle it is probably one of two hoses. There is a fuel system hose for vapor recovery but that hose doesn't have the end fittings to work there.
The other possibility is it can be a hose for the windscreen washer system. Easy enough to check, see if the washers work or if you pump water out at a strange location.
You can download the SNG Barratt parts book for the x-type from their web site and search it for a match.
I really think if it isn't a windscreen washer system hose it doesn't go on the car. Please post and let us know if you have any luck figuring it out.
