visual differences between 2.5 and 3.0?

My car's emblems and paperwork says 2.5, but under the hood, all the info says 3.0 .

is there an easy way to tell which motor is in my car? The engine cover is missing, so that's no help...

What is the VIN of the car? The 11th character will tell (at least how it left the factory and if no engine-swap has been made); W=3.0 and X=2.5 etc.
