weird ash tray question...
This is my first post! I got a 2003 X-Type about 2 months ago and love the car. I have a weird question, I noticed that the ash tray in the front does not have any kind of light in or on it so you can see in it at night. Is there a light there and my buld or fuse is bad? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, don't get me wrong... I love my X-type. It may be one of the best cars I have ever had... But, with all it does and as much thought that went into it's great design you kind of wonder how such a common thing could be over looked! oh well, I hope the next Jag has a light where a light should be.

But whatever you actually need to see like say the cigarette plug has a light ring around it.
I'm going to dub it the "mood light" doesn't change with the knob last I checked...I wouldn't want that light any brighter...you could always hit the bright light on the upper console to turn on those lights so you could see the change...you could also wire a led in that area but the problem you will run into is that you'd have to put it on the side on inside of that area make sure the door doesn't open up and in and than cover th light! Know what I'm saying?

I took a look at mine, for sure mine has a light that lights the ring. but when you remove the tray, the area is sealed still. so if you want to get that light into the tray you will have to investigate further. remove the whole ash tray assembly and see where you can access the light that is already there..

well that's not very Jaguarishness...

If you think this is far-fetched, look into the power antenna/freezing water issues in in the Series III XJs.
