Hello All,

I and my step dad just replaced the old aftermarket throttle body on my 02 Jaguar X type 3.0.
We installed a brand new OEM Jaguar Throttle body and gasket.
During the install we had to temporarily disconnect 2 small coolant hoses from the old aftermarket throttle body.
Once done I turned on the car and gave it gas to rev up it barley reved up at all. My friend said maybe the OEM throttle body has to be programmed with a jaguar computer?
After some time I thought I dont remember ever doing that before? So i wonder if it just air that got into the radiator hose?

Please let me know if the new jaguar OEM Throttle body needs to be programmed after install?. If not the I assume its just air trapped in the hose during the swap?

Any help would be greatly appricated.

One thing worth checking is what I just also wrote in that other thread:

Make sure that connector going to the throttle body is connected, make sure that it is not damaged internally and that the wires are not damaged and that the connector pins inside of that connector are not corroded and not damaged. This connector is subjected to a massive amount of heat in the engine bay and it likes to fail.

This is a common problem on S-Type AND X-Type. On the X-Type it is also kind of under the rubber air intake duct, but it is more visible as on the S-Type: that TB-connector on the X-Type is also quite prone to heat damage, and thus, have a closed look at that connector...

Air in the coolant system is also possible.

 

Up[date according to the jaguar mechanic the new OEM throttle body is defective.
He replaced it with his own jaguar throttle body and it is now working.
