Dsc light stays on
Hello All,
Now I have the DSC error on my 2002 X type 3.0.
The car drives very smoothed but if a make a sharp turn studders a bit then moves smoothed again and the DSC error flashes.
I have already replaced the Front Right Reluctor rings as recommended.
My throttle body, mass air flow sensor, clock spring, and battery are brand new.
I just ordered a STEERING ANGLE MODULE POSITION SENSOR OEM from Ebay.
Any thoughts? would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all,
RM

rm1111, do you notice if it is always when you turn one direction or is it when you turn both directions. It is somewhat sounding like you have another speed sensor that is bad.
Something I am confused about is you talking about replacing the front reluctor ring. The front wheels sense off of a part inside the wheel bearings. Did you replace the wheel bearings? If so, did the shop put the bearing in the correct way. There is an inside and outside to that bearing. But then, I would expect to see you have a C1145 code. Granted, I am wondering if maybe you got a "bad bearing" (not in the sense that it is physically bad, but in the fact that the teeth in the bearing for the speed sensor are not the proper number). This would make the car think that a wheel is slipping while turning, making it respond with applying the brakes to make things right. I would say to get a code reader and look at the wheel speeds. See if the right front is reading lower than the others. That would confirm my feeling.

rm1111: I read your post as: You had the (DSC) ABS error first and as basically the first step, you replaced the reluctor rings...
I think the reluctor rings are the last possible fault-source after a long list of other possible faults...
First I would check: Speed sensors, cables to the speed sensors, connectors found anywhere in those cables: including inline connectors and even the big blue connector, which connects to the ABS module (near the octopus). I had had the issue that one of the many pins inside of that big blue connector did not have electrical connection to its opposing "pin" and I replaced that single "female" pin in the blue connector, which did not give contact (there was no fault visible - I found the fault my measuring).

Hello All, 02 Jaguar X type UPDATE,
So I had both front wheel bearings and oem jaguar speed sensors installed. So far I can turn in ether direction and it steers just fine. Overnight the DSC goes away once i start driving , the DSC error comes on but I dont seem to have that sudden jerking when turning right anymore? (smiling)
I also in an effort to resolve the overheating issue I replaced the original fans with new ones, I added a New DOUBLE CAPACITY radiator, new OEM Thermostat and new OEM water pump with all new hoses. I happy to say so far no overheating problems. (knock on wood).
I just waiting for a good 100 degree weather day to see if it acts up for now.
I still have the original fan module with connectors, I bought the fan module upgrade kit and my mechanic said in an effort to install it due to different connections,
He had to splice wires and got to connect but he said it sparked a fire he disconnected it right away. So we just went back to the original factory fan module. It seems to be working properly.
I also want to know if its ok for the oem fan module to not be fastened down physically so it cant move?
my mechanic left it just sitting there against what ever back wall piece sits behind it. It can't fall down at all but it can pop up if let say I hit a bump.
So just to test it:
I took my hand and I am able to slide it it up and down about an inch is this ok for an 02 jaguar x type module to move around ?

Hello Peters of Australia,
UPDATE
I now replaced both front wheel bearings, the right front reluctor ring, 2 new front oem speed sensors. 2 new rear oem speed sensors.
I no longer get the right turn jerking which is great.
However the car still has a slight jitter you can tell when you drive above 70 MPH.
The DSC error is off when car is turned off. but when you move straight it comes on right away. then goes away when you turn off the car.
Can you take a picture of this big blue connector?
I really want to solve this DSC issue

Hi rm,
you were asking me about the big blue connector:
I think this is what you are looking for - it's my write-up about the unbelievable intermittent contact of one of the pins inside of one of the pins inside of that big blue (incl. obviously a pic of that big blue):

rm1111, take your car to a local auto parts store and have them read the error codes in the car. As Motorcarman said, if you have the DSC light, you have error codes. Without the codes, we are shooting in the dark as to what your problem is. The code is going to significantly limit what the potential problems are. Odds are, you should get a C11X5 code where the X is going to be a number 4 thru 7, which will indicate which wheel is still being seen as an issue. If you get something else in the way of codes, that will point to a module most likely. If you do not get any codes that way, then you are going to need to either: 1) buy a better code reader for yourself that will read C codes, or 2) pay to have a shop read the codes for you (this will run you $125 or so most likely).
Hello All, Thank you for your help.
Here are the codes the jaguar scanner gave me:
1. P0303
2. P1313
3.P1260
4.P1582
5. P1000
TCM (transmission control module)
6. P1573 Throttle Angle Error
7. C1278 Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Signal Faulted
Any thoughts?

Replace the coil on cylinder #3 and that should fix the P030 and P1316 error codes. I will need to look at my references to see what they say about the others. Thinking the P1573 may need a new throttle pedal position sensor to fix that. Seems to me that was the common part for that one. BUt, don't quote me on it.

MAJOR UPDATE FROM SHOP : They said when they took my 02 3.0 Jaguar x type for a test drive with a jaguar delearship diagnostic computer atteached the ABS Module would say it a battery power over load the go down to 0 voltage duriing the test drive.
They tested the connection ABS underneath the wheel well and the contacts where not corroded at all test ok. The mechnics said that it is most likey a defective ABS Module.
In that case i will purchase a rebult one for my 02 3.0 jaguar X type. it will cost me 599.99 US. The Jaguar dealership was talking 2000.00 to 4500.00 for a new ABS module.
The car when turned on and jusr roll forward and the DSC light comes on and stays on, the only way for it to turn while driving is to drive above 80 MPH then it will turn off.
If you drive the car and ride the brake going 3 MPH slightly uphill the car will with out warning apply the brakes voilently (scared us!) and flash ABS and DCS warning.
Any help would be greatly appricated ..
Thanks

So I picked up my jaguar x type 3.0 from the shop unrepaired they said when driving the car at 15 mph the car jerk like its loosing power then according to the jaguar computer software voltage goes battery over load to a volatage of 0. They said that they are a land rover specialist and not a jaguar specialist there was no charge at all by them. They re-installed the original working clock spring and calibrated it. The also refferd me and I scheduled a repair drop of date off of september 22nd at a jaguar specialist in highland park IL called imports specialist. So it will sit for 3 and half week until i can drop it off.
My opinion is its either the ABS Module and the ABS Harness or Wireharness?
What are your thoughts all ?

rm1111, the P1260 code is saying you have a security issue, so, not sure how you have that code and are still able to start the car. it is supposed to be shutting the car down. The P1582 is simply saying that your flight recorder has recorded some information about a fault (most likely the misfires). The P1573 is saying that your throttle position sensor on the throttle body is having issues and needs to be replaced. Just a warning, there are some cheap knock offs out there that supposedly work for the car, but only turn it into a brick. So, make sure that if you buy a sensor, that it is a quality part and if it doesn't fix things, you can get your money back. The C1278 is saying that the steering angle sensor is failed and needs replaced (it is sending signals via the CAN bus that the computer sees as invalid).
Now, for the voltage issue that you are seeing (voltage going from max to 0), this is sounding like a battery cable issue. Which, this could possibly be causing some of your other codes. I would check your battery wiring with a thermal gun and see if you can spot any hot spots in the wiring. Normally it fails at the battery posts (where the wires attach to the metal post itself). These wires can get hot enough to burn yourself with, so, be careful. If you need a test to see if a cable is good or not, let me know.

Thanks THERMO,
I will replace the throttle body and Throttle position sensor with a Jaguar OEM Part to solve the P1573.
We just installed the new Clock Spring and calibrated it correctly no more clicking noises. the should resolve C1278.
I was told that the Clock Spring contains the steriring wheel sensor inside of it. it not a seperate part.
The car battery is a 1 year sears diehard gold series with 700 CCA. The connection physically looks fine but like you said a heat gun to test.
I understood what you said about the flight recorder, hopefully that will help the shop on the hunt for the electrical issues.
I dont know how to test a car cable connection properly if you have advice i could try or just buy a new battery cable and have it installed ?
This car is sentimental to us so i hope i can make this baby Jaguar roar once again.
Any other thoughts anyone?

The jaguar mechanic said the electrical problem was cuased by the NGK V tip sparks plugs really meant for FORD and defetcive brand new OEM throttle body.
He replaced the with OEM regular tip sparks and a new OEM thottle body and it works fine according to him.
At the point he is focused on the DSC error and I gave him a used working OEM BOSCH DSC module (enay) to replace the one that is broken at the bottom of the footwell.
We shall see i will update the outcome
