Okay, so I tried the Silverstars. No luck with them at all. They kept blowing on me. I'm very careful to not tuch them and I cleaned them with an alcohol wipe before I mounted them. I went back to stock for now. At least they wont blow on me. I'd like to try a different brand of bulb, but no one really stocks H1 bulbs in anything but Silverstars or direct OEM replacement. I think eventually I'm going to get a set of HID's. I found them for $200 shipped.

Hey there Xtype 750........not true re the H1 bulbs.
Check my earlier post re "sportzblue" 80w/100w bulbs........fitted n workin fine for 3 weeks now, and give off plenty of useable light.
If you go for HID's ----check the recent post re legality self levelling etc etc........ Sportzblue Not street legal either..lol.but cheaper by about £150
Either way lets know how u get on

Cheers

Hey there xtype I just bought these headlights a little over a week ago now and they have not blown yet! I tried 4 sets of the silverstars and they all blew some faster than others. The longest I had one last was for a couple of days. The light I have now is way better than the silverstars and you actually notice a difference compared to silverstars which didn't do that much for me. These bulbs are 100 watts and they were only $20.

I was told that the higher wattage could melt the harness. Let me know how they work for you. I'd like to replace my fod lights. I was thinking about doing HID's in them, but if you have a better, cheaper alternative, I'd love it.

I never asked anyone but that is what I assumed but Jims had some 80/100 watters in his saab and jag and hasn't had any problems as of yet. I just figure when something does happen I'll blame Jim!!!

Hey x-type I found this link on jaguar xp. It says that they are using 130 watt bulbs in a conventional 55-65 watt housing. I don't know though whether they will guarantee that nothing will happen to your car when the bulbs do melt the harnesses! Here's the link...

Well just got home a few minutes ago and I am quite impressed with the new bulbs, much whiter light and at this time in the morning only a couple of oncoming cars BUT my lights where NOT "drowned" out at all.
