Default What to do with left foot?

I was wondering why there isn't a foot rest for your left foot in an automatic x-type. I know the car can have a manual but does this mean tht they over looked comfort for the automatic? Can I get one installed, my foot falls asleep...

There is a footrest there (not much of one, but it's there) you can go aftermarket for them too

I used an extra piece of my wood dash kit and fashioned a deadpedal out of it. Bird's eye maple to match the dash bits. I think it was the piece designed to cover the ashtray, however I already had the factory wood on there, so I just attached some velcro to the back and to the carpet, and wha-la, deadpedal.

On my Saab, which also lacks a deadpedal, I bought an inexpensive brushed aluminum pedal kit from Poop Boys, and utilized the brake pad inverted as a deadpedal. Attached with velcro.

Cool man, however I do not have anything there at all. The floor is kind of flat and elevated in the area, but there is nothing there - just rug. I want to install one, does anyone know if this is possible?

Don't overthink this buddy. Its a thin piece of wood velcro'd to the carpet in the very spot you are talking about. Now, what I have is not so much for leg falling asleep issues, as it is just a way to protect the carpet from snow and dirt. So it is not like a riser coming up from the floor like you may see in a manual car.

If you want some height, you could make one from some wood (1x4, a sander, stain and little creativity), or better yet, get an aftermarket pedal cover set and go that route. Depends on your interior trim color/style though.I have ivory seatsand birds eye maple trim, so a chunk of brushed metal down there would look stupid. Hence the wood. However my Saab has metal accents, so the pedal looks great.

I didn't get home until dark, so I'll try to snap a pic for you in the morning.

by looking at your pictures christo it could be the bootleg floor mats you have. They may be causing the "foot rest" to be ineffective. try removing them and driving around like that for a while and see what you think.

Man you guys a freaking right! There is a block under my boot leg floormat - hahaha! It still doesn't seem to serve a purpose or maybe it is the way I am sitting. Don't you guys have this problem on long drives or is it just me? I may have to build it up a little bit more.

Ha ha...okay guys, educate me on why you call it a "bootleg floormat" ???

I looked at your pics Christo - nice car! I like the sub box in the trunk.

Anyway, back on topic - I don't have problems with my leg falling asleep, no. I'm 6'5" about 220, so I'm fairly jammed in there, so I pretty much sit in the backseat to drive anyway.

Thanks man!

There are theses poop boys (as someone on this forum already coined the term - hahaha)matts I purchased while Jaguar was ordering the original matts. They are like those rubber matts with the deep grooves in them. Click the link in my sig and look at the interior pics.

Okay, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I was keepin' up with you young chaps and your slang.

And there ain't nuthin wrong with those mats! I've had a set of black $10 specials from wal-mart for about 5 years that I throw in there in the winter on my Jeeps and Saabs, and they are better than the fancy OEM jag winter mats anyday!

Maybe you could just bust out the good old utilty knife or scissors and cut your pedal area (footrest)out of the mat?

I must be sitting too far back. I am 160 lbs 5'9" and dont like being too close to the wheel. But I can press the brake and gas pedal comfortably. I dont think my foot reaches that foot rest - haha!

Well the mat that I am using purpose is to protect the factory mats underneath, so they are there to catch the brunt oo the use. The sacrificial mat does not block me from getting to the foot rest, its there, I just think I a sitting weird or I have very low blood pressure.

you could have the seat tilted back to much. (Not the back but the part where you butt sits) This could cause your legs to be bent too much at your hips and restrict blood flow... So are you using the bootleg mats or the OEM mats... or both?

Do some push ups before a long drive.

queenmb I don't see where you are coming from. Most of the el cheapo mats have areas that are supposed to be trimmed. It's a $10 mat for crissakes.

here's the pic of the pedal I put in my Saab. I don't know why the hell the pic is so friggin big. Sorry.
