RE: what is this light on the over head console?
intresting. thanks for the info. yea, regarding the home link, I know there are all these specifications regarding what kind of garage doors the home link is able to open. Like, it can't open old doors, and some other sort that has a (rolling?) code or soemthing like that. But, I live in a condo with many many units, and the building is brand new, so I think my opener should work. I hold buttons 1 and 3 until the blinking stops, and then I hold the opener to the console while pressing a button until the light begins to blink very quickly. So, I think I follow the directions correctly, but it doesn't work. Could anybody shed light on this? If it is supposed to work on a garage door with my specifications? any info would help

The light does turn on when the lights are on. Most people don't even realize that light is in the car, my wife never even noticed until I showed her. I noticed it the first night of driving. I'm gonna say its there to let you now there's a straw in your cup thats in your cupholder! I love the light though its just one more feature that alot of cars don't have!

All I know is, everyone else has one and I don't, maybe my X is unique?.........lol

Sounds like you have followed instructions up to a point. HOWEVER, if your garage door opener was manufactured within the past 10 years, you still have one more step to perform. On the back of the opener motor, you will probably find a button somewhere marked "learning" or something like that. You can either press this button, run to your car and press the button you have programed, holding it down until the door closes, or better, have some one in the car press the programmed button right after you press the learning button. (This has to be done within 30 sec. to 1 min (depending on the manufacturer of the opener.
Hope this helps.
