Default What are these cables for?

Hello all,

I too this small video of some cables with connectors that are coming out of my passengers footwell. Reason I want to know what they are for is to see if some sort o radio addition was used on the
Car before.

Thanks

Almost certain to be an aftermarket audio or phone install by the PO. OE Jaguar wiring harness build standards are a lot more professional.

Hi there's nothing worse than finding something "Hidden" that you weren't expecting.
My dad bought a new car three years ago and every time he touched a bluetooth connection, the voice activation would kick in.
It was so annoying to drive! I would make something legal to catch out those guys so that if you find some unwanted diy extras, you can seek redress!
I can't actually make the wires out but can only guess they are for some addition, good luck and hope they are removable without too much fuss?
Regards, Stu

Thanks guys!

The cables don't bother me, since I tuck them in. I just wondered if I can use them myself for some sort of upgrade, specially now that I have decided to start looking for a head unit upgrade.

I'm not sure about that as I'm unknowing but I have an ice detector in my X Type and I've just left it, however now you've brought it to mind, I'll enquire further with my garage as it's in now, cheers, Mark

You'd need to trace them back either directly to a fuse or (more likely) to where they are spliced to the harness with something like blade connectors:

Once you know how and where the PO has made the connections, you can decide whether to use or remove them.
