When should I get a tune up?

RE: When should I get a tune up?
About 19,000 miles ago! Spark plugs are supposed to be changed @ 70K miles.
That is about all there is to a "tune up". No plug wires, just individual coils that
don't get replaced unless they fail. Beyond that it is a matter of replacing fuel
and air filter. BTW, the intake needs to come off to replace the plugs.

RE: When should I get a tune up?
a TUNE UP is not needed ever on any Modern car. That was in the old days with points, condensors, distributors, and carburetors with chokes. The old cars needed to be adjusted or "tuned" to run properly. otherwise they would not run properly. Just using a car would cause it to slowly fall out of tune.
For the X-type there is MAINTENANCE to do. change motoroil, and other fluids, change filters, check various things for wear, (brakes, belts, etc) and Keep everything CLEAN.
if you want to do the BARE minimum, follow the owner's manual. to preserve the car for a long life, you need to to much more.
