Default FOUND THE LEAPER! AMAZING! See post #4!

Where, oh where, has my leaper gone?

To the carwash, I think.

Upon returning home Saturday after the wash, I noticed that the cat had run away from home. There are no signs of vandalism.

Back to the carwash. Closed for the day.

Back today. Not found (they said). And since the underpinnings are missing, I probably couldn't fix it anyway.

Found this one on Amazon.com, spring-loaded, for $50.00, shipped.

It has good reviews. What do ya'll think?

TT - Thats really unfortunate mate, hope you get it fixed soon.

By the by, is it a drive through car wash??

If so not only may it be removing your leaper but your car will soon be covered in swirl marks too, really damaging the finish

So today I sidle into the car wash. "Did you happen to find a Jaguar hood ornament?", I ask. The guy opens a drawer beneath the cash register, pulls out the leaper, hands it to me and smiles as he says "Have a nice day." Wow!

And here's the amazing part: I open the hood, search with a flashlight for about five minutes, and find the spring assembly nestled in a corner on the manifold!

I think even I can find a way to repair this thing!!!

Unlucky to lose it but very lucky it didn't do some serious bodywork damage when thrown around by the car wash!

Even luckier that the spring assy didn't fall down into the engine bay and get trapped between the moving parts causing serious damage!!

Time to pick your lotto tickets I think?
