So the donor car has been checked! See pictures! Fuel filter and 2 injectors to replace? And cleaning maf sensor? At least that would be my start! Do you agree?

snhnic, it will help us if you tell us what motor you have. In your neck of the woods, there are 4 possibilities (3.0L, 2.5L, 2.1L all petrol) and a 2.1L diesel). Because you mention the fuel metering pump, I have to assume that you have a diesel engined car. In this case, yes, you are probably best served by replacing the injectors. As for the MAF sensor, I would first start with checking the wiring to make sure that is good. I have seen numerous problems with plugs becoming damaged for various sensors of the engine and this will cause random things to happen. If you look on Youtube, there should be some videos on how to measure the voltage coming out of the MAF sensor to see if you have a complete circuit. You can then try cleaning the sensor to see if things will clear up. Worst case, you may have to get a new sensor. the other check I would do (assuming that we are dealing with a diesel engine) is that you don't have a vacuum leak somewhere. if it is severe enough, the MAF sensor may see very little air flow as all the air is coming in downstream. This will cause the computer to not see the actual air flow and therefore, not know how much fuel to put in (which could possibly explain your metering issue too).
Thanks! Indeed it’s a Diesel 2.0 2004! Next week is my holliday going to try to fix this old lady! Starting with injectors. Cleaning the maf sensor and EGR valve! Guess diesel filter and air filter have to be changed as wel! It looks like everything is pretty sooted over time! I’m not sure, but I think the leaking injectors can be responsible for clocking egr valve?
snhnic, it is possible. This is where ensuring that you get your EGT temps up occasionally will help burn out some of this soot. As for the repairs, I can't be of much help as all of my experience is with the petrol versions. Take lots of pics and if you can, have a table near you that you can lay out the parts in the order that they came off. That way you know what goes back on next and what bolts and whatnot came off with that part.
