Window replacement 2004 X type
I am replacing the left rear window on a 2004 X type. I finally got all the broken glass out of the channels and I have a replacement glass. How does it fit in? I have tried every way I can think of to turn it and it will not go in. Something's got to be removed but I don't know what. Any experience at this?
Not sure if that helps:
I have removed the window glass of Ford Fairlane and Jaguar X-Type in the FRONT (to be able to tint them), and there seems to be one common principle of how to do it: Remove the rubber lips (inside and outside) where the glass slides into (or comes out of) the door (so just above the door handles, where you open the door). This gives you a lot of "wiggle room". The glass then is carefully been lowered into that now wider gap from the "outside" of the door and the idea is to place the glass in the "holder", which slides up and down, where is is being secured with bolts. Newer screw any bolts directly against the glass there are plastic-boots and seal between bolt and glass - also never tighten up those bolts too tight: This will shatter the glass.
The idea is to have those glass holders pretty much up there at the top, but not at the very top, because you will find some holes in the structure of the inner door-metal-frame, which allow you access to tighten those bolts, and those holes need to align with the bolts behind. After the glass sits in position, the inner and outer door lips can be re-installed.
PS:
I just remembered that I already wrote the thread about this - this thread includes removing and tinting the X-Type front window:

I kept on playing with it and finally figured that out. By removing the rubber seals on both sides, sliding the window glass in and then replacing the seals I got the window in place. Thanks!
