Windscreen Vents
Good Afternoon All,
Hoping someone might be able to help.
I have an issue with the windscreen air vents whereby no air is coming trough them, I have changed the actuator which has been tested. I can feel the cogs moving on the inside and the arm that would move the flaps freely moves too, however air is still not coming through the windscreen vent. I have tested the windscreen vent on defrost and windscreen and foot well. Air is coming through the foot well but not the windscreen vent.
I have completed the following tests
• Select full cooling (Lo)
• Select full heating (Hi)
• Back to full cooling
• Select face followed by floor
• Then select face again
• Finally select defrost
If there is any doubt, then a battery reset should be completed; wait two minutes before reconnection.
The other possibility is the blend door(s) =
they go by different names: actuators, stepper motors, and servo motors. Also air dampers, air flaps, and blend doors.
#1) The air inlet blend door either recycles cabin air or introduces fresh outside air.
#3) The defrost vent blend door directs air either to the windshield or face vents.
#4) The temperature blend door directs air either thru the heater core (when the temperature control is set to "HI") or bypassed the heater core (when set to "LOW").
#5) The footwell blend door directs air either to your feet or face vents.
I have also disconnected the battery to discharge any charge left in the car too, however this has not helped.
One weird thing I have noticed is that when you set the controls to either defrost or windscreen and foot well the air that should be coming through the air vents for the windscreen is leaking back though into the engine bay via the pollen filter so not sure what is going on there?
Is there a way to try and reach the air vent flaps to see if there is anything wrong without removing the dashboard or would the dashboard need to be removed to try and fix the issue?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards
Richard
