Default winter tire question

Evening all..
I'm looking at buying another set of rims..ASA... BBS with studded snow tires... I'm thinking of buying them to use for winter as the price is cheaper than just buying new winter tires.. (these are nearly new) anyone heard of the brand hakkapaliitta??
How do studded tires react on the x type in snow..rarely see ice
Would you recommend studded tires?
Thanks

I bought the tires/rims...a steal @ $400..the rims are almost new and the tires have only a few miles on them. I researched the tires and they are high quality @ $250 each.
The tires are 225/45/17...are they likely to rub being this wide?

The tires will be fine. The bolt pattern on the rims won't.

Yep, you need 5x108 if memory serves me. Also, Hakkapeliitta isn't a brand, it's a product name for Nokia Tires. As far as I know, they are pretty good.

I just bought a set of used (with 7mm remaining ^^) Goodyear Ultra Grip 500 studded tires on black alloy wheels. They will probably look a bit weird, but I got them cheap. Photoshoppery:

I do believe exexpat on this forum has experience with using spacers (some sort of metal disc that has two different mounting holes on the opposing sides). I'm also under the impression that there aren't that many 5x108 wheels to choose from, which is why some opt to use the spacers.

I hope someone with more knowledge than me can join the posting at this point
