Wobbling X-type
Hi All,
A friend of mine has an X-type, 3.0V6 4wd, automatic transmission, with a strange problem while driving. The vehicle is making a wobbling movement, continously rolling over it's length-axle.
The movement is very strong, iteven makes your body shake. It's quite low-frequency, probably between 0.5 and 1 Hz, in any case much slower than a vibrating wheel or axle.
The vehicle does it while driving in a straight line, it gets worse in right corners, and better in left corners.
For the rest it doesn't pull to one side, or making strange noise. Dampers are already replaced, but didn't make a difference.
I have the feeling comes from the rear-side of the car, but not completely sure.
Is it a known problam, or does anyone have a clue?

RE: Wobbling X-type
good point aguill. it might be snow or ice on the rim or tire. I have always found that when something strange like this happens it can;t hurt to run the car through the car wash. perhaps the snow, ice, or dirt that is making this happing will be washed away. in any case please update us and let us know what it is. A quick way to check if it is the lug nuts is to put your foot on the tire and push on it hard. if it moves then there you go.

I don't know if it'd be sway bar...I had a bad link or something of that nature and the car somewhat had a minor shake and it wasn't fixed...I think my case might just be roads though as most of the time it doesn't do it....the 225 tires suck for bad roads...not to mention I need to get some new tires...sucky part is it could be any of the things listed here! Hey menno have you guys noticed any irregular wear of the tires??? A bad alignment could cause a shake could it not?
