Hi, fairly new to Jag ownership, My Xtype 2.0D on 55 plate has developed a strange fault, on starting the engine it makes a chuffing noise a bit like an exhaust leak, which will sometimes disappear within a few seconds then other times it will go on for 5-10 minutes, if I rev up at standstill in neutral, it wont rev past 3000, but even with the noise once moving it will redline, doesnt seem to effect the performance but is very noticable when driving. some times when it happens I can rev the engine a few times and it will eventually rev to the redline and the noise disappears, only ever happens on startup though.

Any ideas???
