Default x-type 2.2d estate

wonder if anybody can help me work out what my MPG I should expect on a 2.2 diesel estate 2009 automatic. I picked the car up just before Christmas and it had a fault showing (glow plug and reverting to limp mode') - this has just been fixed (actuator and vanes reconditioned). The trip computer figures did show just under 24mpg (shocking !) but I'm hoping that this will change following the turbo work. Anybody got some real figures for an 09 Auto ? or do some people accept 24ish as ok - previous owner might have been heavy footed!

Hi
I see you are taking readings from the car computer the best way is to check mileage between Full Tank and the next Full Tank, and work out Miles Covered and amount of Fuel Used. What you could do is disconnect the Battery for at least 10 minutes ( Disconnect Black Cable From BATTERY And Make sure it Doesn't Earth on any Metal Parts and this will RESET The COMPUTER And Will Give You A Better Reading For Your MPG.

Regards
Tom

Hi
Meant to say make sure you have the Radio Code before disconnecting the Battery.

Hi thanks for responding. I've been checking the computer after the turbo work was done and I am getting 31mpg - mostly town at the moment. so given it's an automatic, this is closer to what I should expect. I'm going to be doing some longer motorway runs and will check again.

Thanks Trooper2142 - I'm going to calculate this way between next two "Full Tanks".

Five Speed, 34 from a petrol I can see why you don't see the point for diesel.... I just did full tank / full tank calculation and it confirmed low 30s MPG for my 2.2 diesel automatic - I need to re-calculate that on some longer runs though. I don't have an issue with diesel - wouldn't want to give up the auto though and I reckon I'm losing 7/8 from that.
