Ihave an x type 2001 2.5 litre,the engine management light,abs light have come on & also the cruise control has stopped working, any ideas ?

 

One for sure thing..It has nothing to do with the Oil type you're using..

 

Trevor I moved your post to a new thread because it does not appear to be related to the original discussion about oil types and weights.

Can't help much with your X-Type problem but there are some great guys in here that should be able to offer you some advice.

One thing I am fairly sure of however is that when your engine management light comes on then by default the Cruise Control will de disabled.

We've had a rash of this type problem this past winter. The usual cause has been a vacuum leak around the IMT valves on the intake manifolds, also some have found leaks in the power brake booster line from the manifold or the PCV line that runs under the engine cover. I don't know how things work in your country, but here in the US there are several auto parts stores that will read the codes stored on your computer for free. With these codes you will at least have an idea where to start looking for the source of your problem.
