Hello I have a 2001 x type sport se 3.0l very nice car only had one owner from new but I have a problem all the doors lock unlock fine with key fob when I set off for a drive as my old ones did it locks now on my other x type opening the drivers door unlocked all doors but on this non will unlock I have to turn the car off take key out press once for drivers unlock again for all doors could anyone give any info what may be at fault its strage as all locks work with key and if cars unlocked I can manually lock the doors and unlock them from inside but when locked electronic nothing

 

I have similar issue - and have had on/off for a while... there is a cable that connects the inner door handle to the lock mechanism which can be lubricated and may free it up, I have found sometimes that lubricating the lock mechanism itself helps.. but ultimately if your car is similar age to mine it is the electronic actuator(s) in the door lock failing. I have looked at removing it for servicing or replacing but the window guides etc on mine at least give me problems with access to it so it is a job I have held off for some really good weather.
Typically you pull your inside door handle after stopping and all the other doors unlock but not yours.. so you have to take the key out of the ignition and depress the unlock button to get out - a bit awkward when your family gets out and you cant lol

 

Thanks mine does not unlock any doors from inside untill key is pressed whats do you think I should replace or repair can I just buy a second hand lock and change it over

 

If also just noticed the clicker latch on the automatic gearbox clicks everytime I press the brake but my old x type used to stop this once locked just thinking is this somthing to do with the locks

 

On the gearbox you are hearing the interlock, this stops you from selecting D or R without pressing the brake pedal. This is normal.

The locking issue seems to be a common problem and most people have disabled the drive away locking.

There is a tutorial on the internet somewhere with regard to this.

 

Thanks iv just found out about the clicker on j gate but I found instructions on how to remove the auto lock but it wont seem to work does anyone have any idea will it work on my 2001 model
