Default X type 2009 gear box fault

Hi
Please can anyone assist me if you have had the experience before.
My X type 2009 reg is showing gear box fault on the dashboard, and once in a while whenever i am driving
It pull the car down in speed until i put the engine off and restart the car.

Dejimania, for us to help you, we are going to need the fault codes from the car. This should be able to be pulled at your local auto parts store and will consist of 1 or more codes that are going to be something like "PXXXX" where XXXX is 4 digits. This will give us atleast a starting point of where the problem lies. What you are describing could be caused by an actual transmission fault to something as simple as a vacuum leak in the engine. Do not try and figure out what the codes mean as there is lots of bad information out there in the internet and it can send you on a wild goose chase unless you know for sure what the codes mean and are from a jaguar reference.
