X-Type 3.0 Partial system shutdown
Hey friends,
I suffer from the following technical problem on my X-type:
Since an installation of a calbe interrupter (due to a not-operating climate control) different malfunctions on the electrical system have occured repeatedly (usually only when the automatic climate control is on), such as:
- cruise control de-activates
- engine stopps
- steering becomes very hard
- speedo shows beneath 0
- rev counter shows beneath 0
- motor-temperature-indicator shows beneath 0
- radio-receiver doesnīt work
- climate-control display doesnīt show menu (itīs the X-Type with the Nav-System)
- Display shows that "data couldnīt be received properly" (or similar)
- (Nearly) All warning-lights show up
btw: sometimes they occur, sometimes not. sometimes all of them together, sometimes separated. you cannot say f.ex., after 20miles itīs going to occur, itīs always different!
After the engine is restarted all works properly again until the malfunction re-occurs.
Please help!

A shot from the hip
No promises but the climate control module is the main link between all other modules used on your car. A fault with the climate control module will cause all of your symptoms. Keep in mind that even a bad or intermittent connection at the climate module will cause the same faults. I recommend further diagnosis.

FM modulator
If when you say cable interupter you are talking about an FM modulator device installed in the radios antenna lead I would say that has nothing to do with it. It would be more likely that when removing the center stack for access to the antenna lead the climate control wiring was either disturbed or not connected properly. You have factory nav correct? That means your module is located remotely near the passengers left foot and the wiring runs up behind the radio and could be easily messed up by some radio store hack.
