Default X-type AC

Hi, I just bought a pre-loved x-type a few weeks ago and i have noticed that the air coming out from the AC on the passenger side is colder than the driver side, also the air seems to not cold enough even if the temp. setting is at 22.5 deg C.

Appreciate any feedback as to the possible reason or probem.

I had the same issue earlier, it was low on coolant fluid stuff. After that was remedied, it was sufficiently cold.

lawechan, odds are, you freon charge is a little low and you simply need some more freon added to the system. A set of freon gauges will tell you if that is the case or not. Blindly adding freon to the system can cause more problems than it fixes. So, do not just add freon without the initial gauge check.

It is also possible that the blend door has slipped and that is causing what you are seeing. This is where if your freon pressures are where they should be, then that will help confirm that your problem is the blend door.

I had my x-type checked in a shop specializing in European cars,
initial recommendation is to change the following;
a) Evaporator
b) Expansion valve
c) drier
d) Oring
e) re-charge freon 134A and 141B
f) change compressor oil
total estimate : USd 830.00 including labor

appreciate your feedback if the technician made the correct recommendation and also if the cost is reasonable.

thanks !
