Sounds like your electric A/C Compressor clutch fell off. I wonder how much Jag wants for a new one....

Jaguar sells the clutch alone for big $$$$. Part number C2S5982. It's cheaper then compressor and clutch together, but if you have to buy it from Jag take some lubricant. I checked, we don't have a used one. Sorry.

Indeed the missing compressor clutch debacle is more common than you may think. We always replace the compressor as it comes with the clutch and is pretty comparable in price. You may be able to get a compressor from a junk yard and just take off the clutch.

My question is..how in the hell do you get on it to check the nut?..I barely can see the clutch down in there with a flashlight, let a lone stick two big *** arms in there and a wrench..[&:]

Ahh welcome to the world of the Jaguar Tech. LOL. Easiest way is from the bottom. The front lower cover is held on with 30torx screws and 3 10mm bolts. Take that off and you will get your hand in there. No nut means no clutch. Good luck.

There is one electrical connector to the compressor as this engages magnetic clutch.
You should remove compressor as you will not be able to get the snap rings off that hold the clutch in. Also, make sure you keep the shim(s) in place.

If you had a compressor failure, make sure you change the fixed orifice tube also as this will cause a restriction.

Guys,
Who can help me? What is exact part number with any possible cross-references for A/C compressor Jaguar X-type, 2004, 2.0L? Also, will A/C compressor from Ford Mondeo can be used as a replacement? Please advise who know the answer.
Thanks!
