X-Type A/C Compressor
I have an 03' X-type, with the 2.5 engine. The A/C is not blowing cold air at all. I took it to my local mechanic and he told me that part of the A/C compressor was missing. I kinda laughed under my breath and left. I thought I would see if it just needed recharged, but when I hooked up the gauge, it read full. I decided to contact the Jaguar garage, and to my disbelieve, they confirmed what my mechanic told me. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you fix it yourself, or take it to the garage? Someone please help!

RE: X-Type A/C Compressor
Ken,
I haven't taken the compressor off yet, and the front is right behind a brace. But from what the tech at the Jaguar garage told me, I am missing the front part that spins with the pulley. I felt around and the pulley is still there but the inside where I believe the clutch is suppose to be is missing. There is a stud with threads sticking out with nothing on it.

RE: X-Type A/C Compressor
I know this is an old thread, it's just i'm new here and found this thread interesting.
X-type compressor clutches are extremely common for this, from memory it's a 12mm nut on the clutch, it's more often than not loose, i check it every service.
nice forums, by the way.

RE: X-Type A/C Compressor
There is one electrical connector to the compressor as this engages magnetic clutch.
You should remove compressor as you will not be able to get the snap rings off that hold the clutch in. Also, make sure you keep the shim(s) in place.
If you had a compressor failure, make sure you change the fixed orifice tube also as this will cause a restriction.
