X-Type errors Cold Weather?
Hello Everyone, once again I need some help. I wish I could help someone once in awhile. I had a dead battery in my 2004 x-type 2 days ago. I replaced it the car was fine for a day and this morning the check engine light came on. I should also say it got down to 5 degrees last night, as we are all having this crazy weather, and I don't have a garage. I was wondering if the following codes could have been attributed to the weather. p1111, p0174,p0171,p1603, and p1796.
The 1st 3 I've had before and I believe I know what is causing those. I have a hole in the air intake hose that is between the air box and the throttle body. The last time my car had about 7 or so codes including 1st 3 mentioned a mechanic found it a did a temporary fix and my fault for not replacing it, but now I am. Can anyone recommend a site or should I go to the local Jaguar? I had trouble finding it before online.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Wes

X-Tyre, not to ask a silly question, but did you have the car in a position other than OFF while changing out the battery? One of the causes for both the P1603 and P1796 codes is that you removed power from the TCM with the module attempting to do its normal functions. I would try turning off the car, disconnecting the battery, reconnecting it 15 seconds later and then going for a drive to see if those 2 codes come back. If they do, then your possible problems are either a bad TCM or you have a blown fuse for the TCM.
Hopefully it is something silly like a fuse that just happened to give up at a bad time and it is easy to replace.

Thanks once again Thermo. I appreciate it. My son was in the car, so he might have had the key in. I'll go back and try it. This week has been a mess, my two other vehicles were both in the shop as well.
Hope you have a good one.
