Don't tell anyone Chris but it's from the other Jag forum, that's why you couldn't find it. Also on there is this post where the last entry suggests you can repair your originals presuming they're not too bad.

Just thought I'd post my opinion on these ebay seals. My sample pack arrived and contained about 10 different profiles - each about 1 inch long. None of them look like they will be a very good fit, and quite frankly I think the 'finish' on the outside (the visible bit) is awful - it's not really a nice shiney finish like the originals. Personally I don't think I will be going down this route. Would be good to hear your opinion solo.

Hi, I got mine off ebay. I did my front windows first, then the rear and just have the rear quaterlight to do. It looks so much better at a cost of around £180-£230 on ebay depending on how many you need.

Hi Big Chris ,mjtemple and Inspector
Because the window strips on my estate were very bad I thought to replace them with rubber seals as suggested in previous posts.
Ordered up 6 metres of the "small finned "section as per the set of samples.
Using a dremmel I tried to duplicate the cutouts that make the original a snug fit,but
cutting through the rubber and then to the embedded steel reinforcing was difficult .
The lack of precision in this crude way of shaping the cut out profile resulted in an unsatisfactory finish. Also the rubber finned section, whilst making a 100% watertight seal on the glass, causes extra friction for the winding motor to overcome.
In short ,my first attempt needs refining with more experimentation .Meanwhile I've
left these home made strips in place as they are an improvement in function and appearance over the damaged originals but not as neat.
Ive tried to attach photos of before and will post the "after" probably tomorrow .
All the best

Attached some "after" shots.I know I can straighten out and tidy up the strips even more when it stops raining here in Portsmouth.!
With replacement strips to rear doors only fitted.
LH/S rear door.Notice the bulge on quarterlight pillar.Cut back the rubber to the quarterlight upright.
RH/S rear door.Did not cut back rubber to the quarterlight upright.

Hi Chuckles
Seems to be a time lapse between replies.I took off the replacement rubber strips and did a repair job on the old originals. The main problem with the alternative rubber strips was the increase of resistance / friction on the window glass which the window motors weren't designed for.
Still looking out for a suitable replacement as I know the repaired ones will only be temporary.
Regards.

Hi The Bolt
Surprised there has not been further remedies for the waist seals problem.
I managed to cut out and repair the rotten sections on the originals but not a perfect appearance.
Where did you source your kit and what was the cost?
wishing a prosperous new year to Forum members and slow degradation of our "X" types...
