X-type Fuel Pump Replacement
Hi,
I’m thinking about buying a very nice 2004 Jaguar X-type with the 3.0 liter engine. The fuel pump needs replacement, though, and I’ve been checking prices everywhere I can think to look. The cheapest I’ve been able to find was $505.00, which makes me think twice about buying the car. However, I know that this model is based on the Lincoln LS, and that they share some parts. Out of curiosity, I checked the price for an LS pump and it was $124.00. Obviously, if the LS pump is interchangeable with the X-type’s, I’d rather get that one, but I have no idea whether or not it would work.
Does anyone one have any idea whether or not the LS fuel pump would fit and work in the X-type?
I’m sorry for the stupid question, but I have my heart set on this car but, if I can’t find a cheaper solution, I’ll have to pass.
Thank you!

I checked this out when I had a problem. The local O'Reilly's shipped one (an LS pump) in for me to measure and look at, thus how I found the 2 different connections on X type pumps taking pictures. Here's a very comprehensive thread on replacing =

In retrospect I think buying and replacement of just the driving pump (dwclapp's post) is how I would do it if it fails again.

Sadly a few months later had to pay the $800 labor fee to drop the tank (could do it, just didn't want to do it) to replace a $50 rubber hose from fuel pipe to tank causing an evap leak failure.

Thank you, Dennis Black and Dell Gailey for your replies!
Well, that answers that! Although I really wasn’t holding out much hope that the Lincoln pump would work, at least now I know!
The Welsh pump looks like a good solution, but according to the website, it will only work for models up to 2003 and the one I need to replace is on a 2004. I looked up the 2004 part on the same site and, strangely, it appears to be over $400.00! I think it might be possible that I looked up the wrong part, but it was all I could find. I don’t know what else to try, really, but I’m thinking maybe I should just pass on the Jag and look for something cheaper. Too bad, because, other than the fuel pump, the car is in excellent shape and the owner is almost giving it away.
Thanks again, guys!

over here in connecticut the fuel pumps are plentiful in the salvage yards for $100-125 dollars with low miles on them.....buy 2 and your set replacing them once you cut the hole takes 30min
