X type - Heavy vibration under load
Hi All!
I've just registered so forgive me if I'm going over any old ground.....I'm hoping someone can advise me about the following:
I have a 2005 X type 2.0 diesel XS which drives beautifully apart from a vibration that I'm getting through the car - it is most noticeable under any kind of load, eg rapid acceleration or when I have my caravan on the back (it's much less noticeable when not towing, but quite a violent shudder with the extra load). I'm not losing power at all, so don't think it's anything engine related, and it doesn't do it while cruising until I touch the throttle, so discounting the possibility of wheels and/or tyres. The vibration can be felt through the steering wheel though, and feels rotational in nature.
It is not juddering when pulling away (even with the caravan), and the car had a new clutch/flywheel 12 months ago so have passed that by as a cause. I've also just replaced the EGR valve as it was very clogged and that's improves driveability but not affected the shudder at all.
It seems that the extra load when towing is accentuating the vibration, (which amuses the kids as the front passenger seat is shaking like mad) so not sure if it's the fact that it's taking a degree of load off the front of the car?
I'm not mechanically minded so just guessing, and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction :-)
Many thanks in anticipation of your input!

Welcome to the forum Jon,
I've moved your tech question from the UK Region section to the X-Type section. The resident experts here should help resolve the vibration issue.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post an into about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice on how to post to the forum.
