I was going from a town in North Central Iowa to Sioux City which is about 200 miles South West. To get to this destination one would go South on I-35 and then turn West on highway 20. It will take you right to Sioux City, simple right???? Not by the navigation in an X-type. It's first plot was to go North, not South on I-35 into Minnesota, and take I-90 West to I-29 and then South to highway 20 to Sioux City. this route was 6 hours. So I thought I should check my preferences. Nope, all roads were selected, not just interstates and the fastest route and then shortest. So, I started going South on I-35 and the smart Jag recalculted the route. Oh, not to highway 20, but past it and into Des Moines and then West. Oh, it cut the time from 6 hours to just over 4. Now, knowing where to turn, I turned on highway 20 and the Jag recalculated again. Finally it had it right. Of course it should have, it was then a straight line to Sioux City. Again, the estimated time dropped to the correct time by cutting over another hour off of the time.

If a person was really relying on the navigation in these Jags, you would be so far out of your way it would be rediculous. Not bad for one of the most expensive navigation systems you can buy!!!

Is there any software upgrades for this thing? I already had it upgraded when I purchased the car last fall and have the "black" screen with the Jaguar logo.

The map version is 2005-2006. I don't know how to get the navigation unit software version. Could you help me?

Check your speed settings also. I find with mine it takes some city streets when the highway is better, if you reduce the average speed on the small roads to compensate for the red lights.. it should pick the right route.
