X-type Passenger Side Window problems
2002 x-type passenger side windows stopped in open position and are unresponsive to any & all switches. Driver's side windows work fine. I spent the day detailing, waxing, and general maintenance. Could it be that the battery is going bad? Also got a check engine light and notice "DSC System Fault". None of the problems were present the day before. Any advice?
I'm sorry no one more knowledgable than me has reponded yet - but I expect there will be a deluge when this thread is picked up on.. the fact that everything worked fine before your maintenance suggests that something you have done by accident has caused the problems.. battery could be suspect if you had the doors open etc whilst you worked - check engine starts OK.. maybe some water got into one of the fuse boxes and a fuse has blown.. there's a few things you can check and then remove from the list of suspects.. I'm sure though someone will come along and likely go 'oh yes.. it's.....' but for the moment I would start with the basic checks and then go from there
Your suspicions are correct. My F61 fuse for the right side power windows was blown. Problem is now each replacement fuse also blows out immediately. Both right side windows are stuck fully open while I search for a short somewhere. The DSC System Fault may be a separate issue because I removed the front wheels for a brake/rotor inspection. I just bought the car last week & wanted get it clean & shiny before driving it to work. Right now I would be happy to get the windows closed.

I really like my (Wifes car) just some of the problems, Oh Boy!!!
Did you clean or dress the rubber flex cover on the harness between the
body and the door?
At what point does the fuse blow?
upon insertion or using a, which one, switch?
If so it my be that fatigued wire insulation has caused a short in either one
of the door wiring
Remove harness from one door post then unplug it, does fuse blow? Try
other door next I would use a smaller fuse less amp for testing

Her Jag: The fuse does indeed blow immediately upon installation...I've removed passenger side front window harness - still blown fuse, passenger side rear window harness - still blown fuse.
Dr dome: I'm going to try drivers side front next
